[Notes] – The History of Industrial Finance in Continental Europe and Its Relevance to Contemporary Cases in Southeast Asia

This is long overdue. I attended the seminar by Olga Mikheeva (PhD candidate and Junior Research Fellow, Tallinn University of Technology) on 8 Oct 2015 at the EU Centre, Singapore. The centre was ‘… established in mid-2008 as a partnership of National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and co-funded by the European Union’.

Just one interesting tidbit:

In colonial times, the Chinese bankers took in deposits while the foreign banks provided the international networks and provided forex (foreign exchange) services. These two groups formed a symbiotic relationship.
